Decorating 101:
How to easily transform your nightstand with these easy decorating steps.
I am home in New York City, staying in the room that I grew up in, looking around and thinking back at how my love for interior design started. I must have decorated this room a million times! From bright pink with a princess canopy bed to orange and blue to reflect my college pride. Design and creativity has always been in my blood. And trust me, I am so grateful to my patient parents for allowing me the freedom to use my bedroom as a blank canvas.
As soon as I walked into my room on this trip, I took a look at my nightstand (there's only one because NYC living is tight) and I just knew that I had to get my hands on re-styling it. Taking only existing pieces from around my room (acquired most of these gems when I was 16 at Urban Outfitters), and in just 15 minutes I transitioned this baby from sad to stylin'!
This easy and budget-friendly home decor project just proves that you don't need to spend big bucks or a lot of time to transform a space. Check out the before and after photos and details below! That wood headboard is up next - check back soon for it's awesome DIY update!

Here's How to Transform Your Space:
- Books, Books, Books! Always add books and top them off with a vase with flowers or a pretty decorative accessory. Books add height and utilize space efficiently.
- Pretty lamps add instant visual appeal. This one pictured if from Pottery Barn, but Pier 1 sells one similar for half the price.
- Choose decorative accessories that reflect your style.
- Place decorative objects in groups and off-set them when placing them on shelves from the top to the bottom. This creates interest for the eye.
- Make your bed every day :) Pretty pillows and bedding will accent your nightstand and help create a beautiful flow to the room.
