Vintage Bar Stools Steal the Show 

As a busy E-designer, I rely heavily on my favorite online retailers to curate a catalogue of wonderful and unique furnishing options to include in the virtual design boards that I send to my clients. One of my preferred vendors, Chairish.com, is a great resource for buying (and selling!) really cool vintage furniture.

A unique and treasured piece will often make or break your design so for today's post, I want to share a recent mood board that I put together for a young bachelorette in Manhattan. She wanted a space that she could use as a bar to enjoy with friends and family without disrupting the flow of the living room or compromising too much space.

One of my favorite decorating tips that I often use when working on a small space, like a NYC apartment, is to place a long console table behind a sofa or under the TV, along with a couple of barstools.

This allows you to do a few things; first the console table becomes multi-functional, meaning it can be used for storage or as a bar/buffet when entertaining or enjoying a "night-in" at home without taking up too much space or requiring more furniture pieces. Second, choosing the bar stools really lets you get creative! This is a great opportunity to incorporate a pop of color, a fun pattern or texture, something that really caters to your personal style.

There is a lot of white and crisp furniture throughout the room however the stools help create a very fresh vibe in the space by pulling from the earth tones of the coffee table, pouf and faux potted plant. How to easily transform your nightstand with these easy decorating steps. 

I am home in New York City, staying in the room that I grew up in, looking around and thinking back at how my love for interior design started. I must have decorated this room a million times! From bright pink with a princess canopy bed to orange and blue to reflect my college pride. Design and creativity has always been in my blood. And trust me, I am so grateful to my patient parents for allowing me the freedom to use my bedroom as a blank canvas.

As soon as I walked into my room on this trip, I took a look at my nightstand (there's only one because NYC living is tight) and I just knew that I had to get my hands on re-styling it. Taking only existing pieces from around my room (acquired most of these gems when I was 16 at Urban Outfitters), and in just 15 minutes I transitioned this baby from sad to stylin'!
